Day Seven: Independence Day Festivities!

Event: Cookout & Fireworks

It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without some tasty food from the grill.  Fortunately for us, Jim’s parents invited us over for dinner.

This was the third try at a group photo, not including the attempt where the camera went tumbling onto the deck floor before the timer went off.  Sitting from left to right are Nanako, Jonathan, Sean, Tori and Joe.  The cool kids, Jim, me and Terri, are standing in the back.  Christopher and Dennisha are so cool, they aren’t even in the photo.

Other points of interest about this photo: 1. There is a napkin over Nanako’s glass to protect its contents from the crazy flies that were hanging around.  2. Joe is not wearing a Maryland shirt. (!!) and 3. Sean and Tori have started wearing the same color clothes.  Kind of cute, isn’t it?

We left their house to make it home before the fireworks and jammed out to some Damn Yankees on the way.

From our perch near my house, we were able to see parts of two large organized fireworks displays and many small backyard explosions.  Jim and I enjoyed it, but Marshall Dillon grew bored pretty quickly.

All in all, it was a great, relaxing Fourth of July full of good times and laughter.  I hope you had a great celebration, as well!  (However, if you happen to need a little cheering up, might I suggest you watch that Damn Yankees video?  Wow.)

Happy 30th Birthday to my good friend Jessica!  I’m still trying to convince her that there is nothing wrong with having her birthday party next month to better suit schedules!!
