Day Thirteen: Toby Toby Toby

Event: Toby Keith Concert

It’s no secret that I love Toby Keith.  It’s not just that we have the same birthday (though that doesn’t hurt).  I am impressed with his talent as a singer/songwriter.  I think he is funny.  I admire his dedication to the Troops.  And I like singing along with him.  Tonight was the eleventh time I’ve been able to do so live at a concert since 2002.

Toby

If I had to rank my country music favorites, it would be Tobes in first, Brad Paisley in second, and Trace Adkins a close third.  So, imagine my excitement when Trace joined Toby’s tour the last two years!

*Spoiler Alert*
If you’ve never been to a Toby & Trace show, they join forces for the last song.

Sure, this is a shot of the screen, but look how big these dudes are!  (Side note: I’m not sure how Trace manages to move around as much as he does in those tight jeans.  Yikes.)

Before the concert Jim, my friend Meg, and I were talking to a friend of ours who works at the concert pavilion.  She shared this heart-warming story with us: Apparently earlier in the day before the show, Toby and Trace were walking (running?  skipping?  I don’t know.) around the lake by the amphitheater when they came across a tiny puppy.  The puppy was barely alive in the crazy heat.  Toby revived the little guy and they took him to his bus.  They named him Sir Walter Raleigh and those two big tough guys are arguing over who gets to keep the pup on his bus.  As a dog lover and a fan of these two, I love this story (& choose to believe it).

As usual, Jim was a good sport about my ridiculous excitement over a Toby concert.  (This was his ninth Toby show, btw.)

He even took one for the team when Chatty McChatterbritches showed up in the seat next to him when Toby hit the stage.  There was no way I’d be missing the performance, so Jim was subjected to a whole lot more from her than I was.  Jim, I owe you one.  I promise to return the favor at the next Johnny Cash concert.

Oh, wait.
