Day Sixteen: Lunch Adventure with Friend from Work
Event: Lunch with Veda
Veda and I met when I worked in Child Nutrition. We became fast friends because we share similar senses of humor and the same appreciation for all things Bob Harper. (It’s just icing on the cake that she has family in WV.) Veda is one of the sweetest and most hard-working people you’ll ever meet.

When our schedules would allow (ahem), we would take our lunch breaks together. She introduced me to Frank’s and the best pizza I’ve had in NC. We would often take advantage of their Tuesday two-slice special. Yum yum. That was the plan for today.
That is, until we arrived at the restaurant to discover this is the one week they close to take vacation. We giggled at our misfortune and dreamily recalled the yummy goodness that is Frank’s pizza. So, with pizza still on the mind and a less than convenient location, Plan B became the Pizza Hut down the road. Downgrade. Not only is the pizza nowhere near as good as Frank’s, but this particular location has had some sanitation issues in the past. (This awareness of sanitation scores is a curse of working in the food service field.)
However … it turned out that the sanitation score would not be an issue today. As we pulled into the empty parking lot of Pizza Hut (in two separate cars, mind you), we read their sign indicating they are closed for remodeling. We were heartily laughing by this point and finally resigned to the fact that pizza was not in our cards today. So, we settled for Wendy’s.
But let’s be honest, it wasn’t so much the food I was looking forward to. It’s always a blast to chat with Veda and today was no exception.
And trust me. It won’t be long before we’ll get back to Frank’s together. Of this, I am certain.
