Day Eighteen: Comedy Show

Event: Comedy Show at Goodnight’s Comedy Club

I like to laugh.  I’m quite an expert in the field, actually.  I look for ways to get my giggle on every day.  Conveniently, my family is hilarious and I’ve managed to surround myself with some very funny friends and one incredibly humorous hound dog.

Goodnight’s Comedy Club in Raleigh brings in some impressive talent, so we take advantage of its proximity pretty regularly.  Some acts are better known than others, but I’ve yet to be disappointed with a show.  Some folks we’ve seen include Doug BensonNorm MacDonald, Thomas F. Wilson (Biff from Back to the Future), the guys of Broken Lizard, and Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler’s Mom).  Most recently, we saw John Caparulo who was not only hilarious, but he and I also shared stories of our four-year-old basset hounds after his set.  He’s a really nice guy.

Lucky for us, I’m a member of the birthday club at Goodnight’s, so our tickets tonight were free!

Todd Yohn was the feature act.   He is from the Winston-Salem area and got his start at Goodnight’s 25 years ago.  He was very funny and had a few valid points about the new roundabouts on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh.  (Seriously.  What were they thinking?)

We always have a good time at Goodnight’s.  It’s fun to see the photos of all the greats who performed there before they made it big: Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Ellen Degeneres to name a few.
