Day Twenty-One: Trip Down Memory Lane
Event: Perusing Photo Albums and an Impromptu Lunch with an Old Friend
Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I like to take pictures. Not photographic art, but snapshots to document and remember events. While I am by no means a scrapbooker, I have photo album after photo album full of pictures from junior high through college. (Now I rely on fantastic iPhoto to organize my pics.)
While the books from junior high and high school are still at my parents’ house, those from college and beyond are here with me. They’re stored in baskets in my room.

With a cup of tea and a comfy seat, I took a couple hours and looked through the twelve photo albums, one binder of letters, and a whole lot of dust. (Maybe I should look for lidded baskets?)

The earliest album was actually from our high school Spanish trip to Costa Rica in 1997 and the latest one ended with a girls’ weekend trip to NYC in 2005. However, the majority of the pics were taken in good ole Huntington, WV. I had so much fun looking through all of the photos. There were many things that I hadn’t thought about in years. And there was quite a bit of ridiculousness that made me laugh. A lot. One thing is for sure, my friends and I have had a blast over the years.
Coincidentally, one of those friends happened to be in town this weekend. Lance, his wife Aliya and their son Pierson spent the weekend exploring the area since they plan to move here in the Fall. I haven’t seen Lance since college and through the wonder that is Facebook, we arranged to meet up for lunch today.

Lance and I became friends in junior high and stayed close through high school and college. He is hilarious and we always had a lot of fun together. It was great to meet Aliya and see how fantastic she and Lance are together. I’m not sure how I didn’t get a picture of her, but trust me, she’s adorable. Just look how stinkin’ cute Pierson is! That kid is such a joy to be around. So pleasant and smiley! I can’t wait for them to move to town. Ol’ Pierson might just give Jim a run for his money!
